www.tukae.org - A worthwhile cause |
| We, at iimia, work with a lot of charities on their financial planning and investment management whilst also raising money for them. So far this year, we have raised a total of £1,125 as charitable donations which has been matched by the company, giving a total of £2,250. Each of our offices selects a Charity to support each year and our Falmouth office have chosen to support Tukae for 2010. | |
| Tukae is a Tanzanian based project (one of the poorest countries in the world). They assist practically and financially in the four areas of Health, Education, Job Creation and the Environment. The aim is to alleviate poverty by developing a healthy, sustainable and viable community. | |
| Beat back Malaria The Charity provides healthcare and is building a Dispensary and developing a Health Centre. |
| Education Tukae runs the Volunteer Programme for teaching English as an international language. |
| Local Jobs and the Environment Two projects that create real local jobs and income: The first Amani Women’s Craft Workshop was built in 2006. The second workshop was completed in 2008 and between them an extensive range of goods are made and sold in Tanzania, the UK and other parts of Europe. The second project, the Emau Hill Forest Camp was initiated in response to the beauty of the local area. The Amani Nature Reserve is rich in flora and fauna and has well-established hiking routes. We appreciate there are a vast array of charities needing our collective help. If you choose to give to any charity, you could also benefit from significant tax advantages: Income Tax - If you are a Higher Rate taxpayer, you could receive 20% Income Tax Relief on your donation. Capital Gains Tax - By gifting assets such as UK Land, Qualifying Shares or Property to the Charity, you can reclaim valuable Capital Gains Tax relief. Inheritance Tax (IHT)- By leaving gifts in your Will to the Charity (Legacies) your estate will be reduced, providing your estate with 40% Inheritance Tax relief. |
